According to the U.S. State Department, within 24 hours of the disaster the Japanese government had offered material and monetary aid. That included tents, blankets, power generators and portable water tanks. Japan provided $200,000 to the American Red Cross, one of the largest relief operations aiding the hurricane victims. And total assistance offered by the government of Japan amounts to $1 million.
